Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Design Instructor to lead our Interiors and Architecture I: Fundamentals of 3D Space and Representation course within the Design Formation program. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in 3D design or architecture, a deep understanding of the design industry, and a proven ability to teach and inspire students.
As part of our dynamic faculty, you will help shape the next generation of designers by delivering hands-on, industry-relevant instruction in SketchUp, guiding students through conceptual development, technical execution, and professional application.
Job Description:
Job Title: Design Instructor for DSGN 1155 Interiors and Architecture I: Fundamentals of 3D Space and Representation.
Location: On Campus Langara College
Employment Type: Part Time Temporary (covering leave for 2 week duration)
Department: Design Formation
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and structured instruction in SketchUp, tailored to design and architecture applications.
- Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to students, fostering both technical skill and creative growth.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and program leadership to ensure curriculum relevance and rigor.
- Stay current with design trends, software updates, and industry practices to enrich course content.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment.

Qualifications
- Professional experience in 3D design, architecture, or a closely related field (minimum 3 years preferred).
- Proficiency in SketchUp, including advanced modeling techniques, drafting practices, and real-world application.
- Teaching experience in higher education or professional training environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with design workflows, project management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to integrate real-world projects and case studies into the curriculum.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
