The Electronic Communications Systems Instructor is responsible for providing a high-quality learning experience that builds learners’ practical knowledge and technical proficiency in electronic communications systems. This part-time contract role requires delivery in classroom and laboratory formats, with scheduling determined by program needs. The ideal candidate is passionate about adult education, has a strong background in electronics or electrical engineering, and can prepare learners for entry-level and intermediate roles in electronic communications across diverse industries.

Functions and Duties

  • Guides participants through learning activities focused on meeting defined learning outcomes and ensuring learner mastery of electronic communications concepts.

  • Facilitates classroom and laboratory sessions and develops engaging learning activities that integrate theory with hands-on skill development.

  • Prepares learning activities and instructional resources aligned with curriculum standards, client requirements, and program learning objectives. Updates and adapts instructional materials to meet learner needs and evolving industry requirements.

  • Guides and supports learners in applying concepts and building technical skills in electronic communications systems, including digital and analog systems.

  • Assesses participant progress, provides constructive feedback, and submits student assessments in a timely manner, supporting student progress throughout the program.

  • Supports the safe and effective use of instructional equipment.

  • Ensures a respectful, organized, and professional learning environment that meets institutional, client, and industry expectations.

  • Collaborates with the Program Coordinator and other instructors to ensure cohesive program delivery.

  • Fosters open communication to support learner success and maintain alignment with institutional and client goals.

  • Maintains current industry knowledge, skills, and certifications relevant to the electronic communications training area.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required; a combination of relevant education and industry experience may be considered.

  • A minimum of 3 years of recent, practical experience working in electronic communications systems, including digital and analog communications, in an applied industry setting.

  • Experience delivering training, instruction, or mentoring to adult or workplace learners.

  • Experience in corporate, industrial, or vocational training environments is an asset.

  • Membership in a relevant engineering, technology, or industry association is considered an asset.

  • Proficiency in digital tools and software relevant to training delivery, including Microsoft Office applications and Learning Management Systems, is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training aligned with defined learning outcomes and corporate client needs.

  • Strong applied technical knowledge in electronic communications systems, with the ability to translate theory into practical instruction.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire adult learners.

  • Proficiency in preparing learning activities and resources, managing classroom and laboratory settings, and adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles.

  • Ability to manage instructional resources and maintain safe learning environments.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and professional learning environment.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure effective program delivery and learner success.
