Job Description
SGS is currently looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Inspector in Port Colbourne, Ontario to start immediately. The inspector would be working full time hours - 50 weeks a year, 5 days a week (Monday to Friday – 8 to 10 hours a day) and every other Saturday. Contract length would be ~18 months.
Scope of work:
Controls and Instrumentation:
- Verify each of the instruments are in the correct location, and have appropriate tags
- Verify the instruments are calibrated and the parameters are suitable for the associated piping lines
- Verify that each of the valves actuate correctly
- CSA/CUL
Electrical:
To go through the cable lists, Electrical diagrams, and motor lists and check the following;
- Megger check each of the motors
- Test each of the motors for rotation, grounding, and tagged
- Hi-pot and continuity test each of the lines
- CSA/CUL certification on each of the Panels & Motors
Mechanical Checks:
Gasket verification – check to see proper gasket type is used

Torque checks - verify against our technical spec

Insulation verification – verify the thickness and type conform with our standard, ensure all heat tracing is installed wherever there needs to be heat tracing

Valve installation – ensure proper valve is used at the locations per our PID, and make sure they are orientated properly, and installed correctly control cable & pneumatic lines or electrical depending on actuator type. Make sure each of the valves is appropriately tagged

Hangers and supports – verify the hangers and supports are the correct type, and in the locations as shown in the drawings, also make sure that they are supported at the minimum span shown in our tech spec.

Documentation review – Ensure we have documentation to ensure the pressure test was complete, and flushing was done on each of the lines with TSSA sign off

Qualifications

Red Seal Journeyman Electrician Certification would be preferable
-
Minimum of five (5) years industrial experience in Electro-Mechanical inspections. Experience in EV Battery inspection is preferable and advantageous
-
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the battery inspections, Motor testing, familiar with CSA/CUL regulations, familiar with Megger & Hi-pot tests.

Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.

Candidates must be proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).

Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.

Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.

Pay range is $40 to $45/hour depending on experience + 0.70/KM.
