About the role
Job Title: Cook (Grid 9) Competition Number: C67 Location: Phoenix Center ( Main Campus ) Collective Agreement: Communities Bargaining Unit Classification rate: $25.61 - $27.31 Position Status: Full-Time Reports to: Manager, Food & Services
Introduction:
The Cook at Phoenix Society is responsible for preparing meals and following established recipes. Key duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the menu, and following food health and safety procedures. The position is required to cook, clean, assist other kitchen staff, and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. The Cook ensures that menu items are of high quality and distributed in a timely fashion. Also, from time to time able to work for sister sites and phoenix food truck as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, clean and organize work stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare ingredients for the day; wash, chop and season meat, vegetables, etc.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to nutritional standards with other kitchen staff
- Handle multiple food orders at one time
- Deliver menu items to clients as required
- Store and dispose of any food properly
- Ensure sufficient stock and inventory of food, supplies and equipment
- Sanitize and clean work stations and kitchen supplies
- Comply with health and safety and sanitation standards
- Ensure that food is distributed in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Recent, related experience of six months
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
- Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
- Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
- First aid certification with CPR is required
- Food Safe Level 1 is required
