##About Us

The Student Engagement Department is responsible for managing and supporting various student-centered programs and initiatives such as Central Orientation, Student Groups, and components of Orientation Homecoming. The role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing activities that enhance student engagement, promote student well-being, and foster a supportive campus environment, with a focus on creating a sense of belonging. The Special Projects Assistant will work closely with diverse student populations, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure the success of various student affairs projects.

##Responsibilities

The Special Projects Assistant, Orientation (OSPA) reports to the Director, Student Engagement. The incumbent is responsible for supporting Student Engagement related project and program management. The incumbent will work closely with the Student Engagement team and various internal and external partners to contribute to the success of providing holistic transition support to incoming students as well as providing enrichment throughout the educational careers of current students. This role will play an integral role in supporting the organization and execution of the recruitment and onboarding process for over 900 student leaders. Furthermore, the successful candidate will take the lead in coordinating and maintaining timelines on Orientation program planning with various partners and stakeholders across campus and the London community.

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student at Western University
  • 2-3 years of experience in project coordination, event planning, or program management, preferably in higher education or student services.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and communication tools (e.g. Slack, Zoom).
  • Knowledge of student development theory, higher education policies, and issues affecting University students is a plus.
  • Available to work in-person full time throughout the summer months, starting in May
