The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking two qualified individuals for the role of Senior Mobile Operations Technician within the Engineering & Technical Services Branch.
Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence
-
Must be able to travel throughout the province and stay overnight as required
-
Must be able to work various shifts including some weekends
-
Must be physically capable to perform the duties that are associated with this position, that include to stand for extended periods of time and be able to lift and carry 22.5 kg
-
Must be able to work in a variety of climatic conditions
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or completion of Department Level 3 training courses or suitable combination of education with experience in a materials testing environment.
- Directly related materials testing experience including asphalt, concrete, aggregates and soils.
- Knowledge of construction specifications, departmental policies, procedures and guidelines
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to generate records and reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software package (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Duties:
The Senior Mobile Operations Technician Reports to the Mobile Operations Technologist and supports Transportation and Infrastructure construction and maintenance programs through specialized testing and analysis. Provides technical guidance and serves as a paraprofessional resource to Mobile Operations Technicians across lab, field, and office environments.
Key responsibilities include conducting engineering-related laboratory and field testing on materials such as bituminous products, concrete, aggregates, and soils. Operates advanced equipment including the Falling Weight Deflectometer, High-Speed Laser Profiler, and Ground Penetrating Radar. Supports MTI’s QA/QC materials testing, pre-engineering, and research programs. Acts as backup Radiation Safety Officer and liaison between the head RSO and regional field Density Operations.
