About the role

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer in Canada.

As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing high-quality web applications that deliver exceptional user experiences. You will work closely with distributed teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and innovative frontend solutions. Your contributions will directly impact enterprise clients by creating performant, reliable, and visually compelling applications. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, and product stakeholders, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to best practices. This role requires a balance of hands-on coding, mentorship, and strategic input to shape the frontend architecture and enhance team capabilities. You will thrive in a remote-first, agile environment that values learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain web applications using JavaScript and frontend frameworks, primarily React.
• Implement reusable, scalable components and user interface patterns using Material UI and Storybook.
• Optimize application performance for speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and collaborative software development practices.
• Support agile project execution, including requirement analysis, task estimation, and delivery planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate frontend solutions with backend services and APIs.
• Ensure high standards of testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, for reliable application delivery.

Requirements

 • 6+ years of commercial experience as a frontend engineer or in a senior software engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React, with deep understanding of frontend development best practices.
• Experience with Material UI, Storybook, and other modern UI libraries and tools.
• Knowledge of version control tools, especially Git, and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) processes.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and iterative project delivery.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with professional proficiency in English.
• Ability to work remotely and independently while contributing to distributed teams.

Preferred Skills:
• Prior experience working with enterprise clients or complex digital platforms.
• Strong understanding of software performance optimization and accessibility standards.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team knowledge sharing.
