About the role
Overview:
As the Injury Claims Analysis, you will review, analyze, and make recommendations that impact the operational processes, procedures and policies of the PIPP Support Services department and/or other injury claims units.
The Associate Injury Claims Analyst develops and acquires the skills and abilities required to independently perform a review and analysis of complex information and implement improvements that potentially have an impact to operations by successfully completing a structured development program and gaining relevant on-the-job experience. The position initially performs more structured tasks and takes on increasingly more complex tasks while progressing from the Associate role until completing the training program as an Injury Claims Analyst.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare operational performance reporting for management and supervisors across all areas of Injury Claims Management (Income Replacement, Personal Care Assistance, Medical Expenses, Permanent Impairments, Rehabilitation Management, Special Services Unit, Legal, Catastrophic claims, Payments, Data Stewardship, Health Care Services), including regularly scheduled reporting on departmental standards and progress.
- Plan and execute data collection and analysis for all areas within Injury Claims Management using numerous data sources to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Workload and workforce forecasting to ensure customer demands and resources will be met.
- Audit and report on MPI Customer Service Standards.
- Analyze reports to identify trends and patterns, recommends solutions and process changes.
- Propose recommendations for improvement, and actively participates in the implementation of accounting principles, internal controls, and practices and procedures.
- Perform detailed analysis of current processes, evaluates procedures and models, and provides business requirements to enhance data models, processes and procedures, if required.
- Accountable for implementing end-to-end solutions, including training on approved changes.
- Perform compliance audits to ensure realistic data quality expectations are met, MPI’s document retention policies are adhered to, and completeness and accuracy of data capture for the scanning and payment units.
- Provide new and/or refresh training to users based on audit findings.
- Monitor and maintains approval authority profiles for users, in accordance with corporate directives, operational business requirements, and applicable legislation.
- Provide operational input into the negotiation of service provider fee agreements. Identifies and recommends critical negotiation points, and provides analysis to support recommendations. Establishes financial impact of proposals and identifies areas to focus on.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in Commerce or related discipline.
Experience:
- Two years of related experience, including claims or analytics experience.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge of related BI3 systems, processes, and business rules.
- Knowledge of electronic document management processes and software.
- Detail oriented, accurate and highly organized with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Analyze and interpret data.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Access and Visio).
- Working knowledge of The MPI Act and Regulations related to PIPP, as well as applicable legislation: Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
- Working knowledge of case management practices, insurance principles and practices is an asset.
- Working knowledge of data modelling theory is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Hummingbird, Kofax, Lawson, Business Objects, In-Phone Systems, CARS, and SQL is an asset.
Or an equivalent combination of the above.
Conditions of Employment:
Successful completion of the Associate Injury Claims Analyst Training Program within 24 months.
