The City of St. Albert is recruiting 2 individuals to join our Policing Services team as Emergency Communications Operators.
Reporting to the Senior Emergency Communications Operator, this position will be responsible for being the first point of contact for all incoming calls to the St. Albert RCMP Detachment, including all Municipal Enforcement and 911 Emergency calls.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 together with prior policing or dispatching experience and strong computer skills are necessary.
- At least 1 year of call-taking/dispatching experience is preferred.
- Certification from an Emergency Communications Program is considered an asset.
- Experience with RCMP computer programs and familiarity with the RCMP environment is a definite asset.
- The ability to deal with people in a polite, courteous and informed manner is essential. The ability to stay calm in a variety of high stress, demanding situations is required, as well as the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Hours of Work
- We offer a variety of shifts ranging from: 3 to 12-hours in length. The 12-hour shifts are 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Shifts may be altered to meet operational needs.
Compensation
The wage ranges from $34.68 - $42.18 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
