About the role
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Coordinator, Community Operations, this role is responsible for maintaining ice (if applicable), Class “A” swimming pools (if applicable), buildings, grounds, and equipment at various Town of Caledon recreation facilities. You will ensure facilities are safe, clean, and operational for staff, residents, and user groups. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, minor repairs, record keeping, and supporting daily facility operations. As the Facility Maintenance II, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Clean and maintain facilities including floors, washrooms, change rooms, windows, doors, and garbage removal
- Perform general carpentry, painting, and exterior building maintenance including groundskeeping, snow removal, and ice clearing
- Maintain arena and ice facilities (if applicable), including operating ice resurfacers, maintaining refrigeration systems, and performing minor repairs
- Maintain swimming pools (if applicable) including chemical checks, filtration, backwashing, vacuuming, and minor system repairs
- Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, maintaining records and log books
- Set up meeting rooms, open and close facilities, monitor user functions, oversee assigned staff or contractors, and respond to incidents or emergencies
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking two (2) skilled and reliable professionals with a post-secondary degree/diploma in facility maintenance, building systems, mechanical trades, or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in arenas, pools, and/or recreation facilities and experience with building systems, equipment maintenance, and minor repairs.
The ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in facility operations, preventative maintenance, and working in a recreation environment. We are seeking an individual with superior technical and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work independently and oversee staff or contractors, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
The successful candidates for Facility Maintenance II will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
The (2) vacant positions offer an hourly wage of $35.73 plus a competitive benefit package.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
