About The Role

The Port Alberni, BC location is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This full-time, permanent position plays a vital role in supporting the company's HR functions, ensuring smooth operations and effective employee management within a unionized environment. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, assisting with recruitment processes, and supporting various HR initiatives aligned with company policies and labor relations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills, a commitment to safety, and a desire to foster positive employee relations. The successful candidate will work closely with internal departments and external service providers to ensure the effective administration of compensation, benefits, and HR policies.

Qualifications

A degree in Human Resources or a related field (considered an asset)

3-5 years of relevant HR experience Knowledge of benefit plans and employee benefits administration Experience working in a unionized environment and understanding of labor relations Strong organizational and record-keeping skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams Commitment to safety and ethical HR practices

Responsibilities

Maintain current employee records, including leaves, accommodations, discipline, benefit enrollment, and payroll statuses Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings and coordinating interviews Ensure accuracy of department records such as organization charts, job postings, and scheduling templates Establish and maintain relationships with external service providers to administer compensation and benefit programs effectively and cost-efficiently Provide employee benefits services, addressing employee concerns and managing changes in a timely manner Support labor relations activities and liaise with union representatives Participate in the development, communication, and implementation of HR policies, processes, and programs Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with safety standards Collaborate with internal departments to support HR initiatives and operational needs Assist in managing employee engagement and organizational development efforts
