The challenges that await you
Under the authority of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent conducts research and provides legal services, particularly in corporate law and governance of NPOs, as well as regarding the internal bodies of the City, including the Governance Commission, and offers legal support to the services.
More specifically:
- Manage the accountability files of NPOs subject to the jurisdiction of the Governance Commission;
- Ensure the application and updating of the City's Governance Framework Policy;
- Assist City services in the establishment and governance of internal bodies;
- Act, upon request, as legal advisor to municipal services;
- Conduct legal research.
The ideal profile for us
- Be a member in good standing of the Quebec Bar;
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in law;
- Have six (6) years of experience as a lawyer in corporate law and corporate governance;
- Knowledge of the community sector and NPOs;
- Excellent sense of partnership and skilled communicator;
- Excellent synthesis skills, rigor, and critical thinking;
- Excellent analytical skills and good judgment;
- Ability to work effectively under the pressure of tight schedules and rigid deadlines;
- Ability to study the political and institutional environment in which decisions are made;
- Sense of priorities;
- Results-oriented;
- Be very meticulous;
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
