Role Description The Truck Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Vancouver, BC, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial trucks for regional and potentially long-haul routes. Day-to-day tasks include driving to scheduled pickup and delivery locations, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing and unloading cargo, and maintaining accurate logs and delivery documentation. The role requires adherence to DOT regulations and company safety policies, as well as communication with dispatch and warehouse staff to coordinate routes and timelines. The Truck Operator is expected to keep the vehicle clean and in good working order, report maintenance needs promptly, and provide courteous service to customers and partners.
Qualifications
Strong truck driving skills, including safe operation of commercial trucks and adherence to traffic and safety rules. Valid CDL Class A license and a clean driving record, with familiarity in operating heavy vehicles and related equipment. Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements, including hours-of-service and safety standards. Experience with loading and unloading cargo, securing loads, and handling basic material-handling equipment where required. Ability to perform vehicle inspections, identify basic mechanical issues, and coordinate with maintenance when needed. Reliable time-management skills and the ability to follow route plans, delivery schedules, and dispatch instructions. Good communication skills and professional conduct when interacting with customers, colleagues, and supervisors. Physical ability to sit for extended periods, lift moderate loads as needed, and work in varying weather conditions. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in commercial truck driving or freight transport is an asset.
