The location in Saint-Felicien, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Payroll Specialist. This job is full-time permanent.
Overview: You will be responsible for processing the weekly payroll for hourly employees in Québec and Ontario. You will ensure the accuracy and timely production of payroll, account maintenance, and reporting in compliance with federal and provincial laws.
Your Challenges:
- Maintain all payroll-related data, including deductions and taxes for hourly and non-exempt employees.
- Verify the accuracy of changes to employee information, new hires, terminations, employee and employer contributions to various plans, and contributions to the Company’s benefits programs.
- Set up and process wage garnishments, including child support, tax levies, and bankruptcy deductions.
- Maintain documentation related to hourly payroll preparation and maintenance tasks.
- Generate weekly reports for various vendors and intercompany services.
- Provide required documentation to auditors.
- Process bonus payments.
- Perform manual audits requested by facilities.
- Conduct quarterly account reconciliations.
- Handle year-end processing.
- Annually update general hourly rate increases at facilities.
- Work closely with the Human Resources and Benefits departments, employees, vendors, and facilities to keep payroll data up to date.
- Collaborate with the Payroll and Tax Specialist to ensure employees are assigned to the correct tax categories, process year-end adjustments, and investigate payroll-related issues in the general ledger.
- Process payments for benefits plan contributions, maintain arrears in the SAP system, and reconcile payments with the bi-weekly payroll report.
- Manage the secure payment transfer system (ACH).
Your Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the Company, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and reporting tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in French is a must. Good knowledge of English (an asset).
Your Profile:
- Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation.
- Experience with SAP Payroll.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is an asset.
- At least four years of payroll processing experience.
