Primary Duties
The Conservation Coordinator is a cross functional role responsible for supporting the planning, marketing and delivery of cost-effective energy efficiency programs on behalf of Kingston Hydro and Utilities Kingston. This role blends technical understanding of electricity conservation and management with strategic communications and marketing. The incumbent administers conservation programs to support electricity demand side management (eDSM) serving as the bridge between customers and provincial energy conservation programs. The role will focus on interfacing and strategizing with large industrial, commercial, residential and manufacturing (ICI/Class A) businesses to reduce energy consumption and peak demand.
Major Responsibilities:

Support the development and adherence of Kington Hydro’s Conservation and Demand Management plans.

Support the development, delivery, reporting and regulatory compliance of Kingston Hydro and Utilities Kingston (CDM, DSM) energy conservation programs and incentives.

Provide conservation coaching and funding application support to ensure applications meet all requirements for funding.

Collaborate with commercial, industrial and residential customers to develop demand side management strategies and plans for their facilities.

Keep abreast of changes in the marketplace and new conservation programs and coordinate delivery of programs.
-
Ensure that programs, activities and conservation measures are cost effective utilizing standard cost effectiveness tests.
-
Submit monthly invoices to the IESO to recover incentive and administrative costs.
-
Perform evaluation, measurement and verification of energy savings consistent with provincial and municipal guidelines.
-
Monitor regulatory changes to ensure Utilities Kingston is compliant with relevant conservation legislation, regulations, codes and guidelines.

Ensure adherence to provincial and municipal budgets.
-
Participate in community and industry groups representing the organization.

Develop and deliver energy conservation programming to public and staff.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
-
Advanced communication skills and the ability to translate technical terms into common language.

Intermediate analytical skills
-
Intermediate organizational and administrative skills.
-
Advanced ability to build relationships and work with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge:
-
Advanced knowledge of energy management and conservation.
-
Intermediate literacy in energy management including Ontario’s energy regulatory environment.
-
Intermediate knowledge of the suite of provincial conservation programs.
-
Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individuals, the organization and operational requirements.
Experience:
-
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Environmental Studies. Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline.

1-3 years in an energy management or sustainability role focused on the delivery of energy conservation programs.
-
Class G drivers’ licence
