What You’ll Be Doing As a Summer Student or Intern on the Data and Reporting team, you will support the Director, Data Governance and contribute to the Commercial Banking & Wealth Management (CBWM) Data Governance program. You will assist with documenting processes, preparing materials, and helping stakeholders, while learning about data governance, data quality, and automation in a financial services environment.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll work in a hybrid arrangement, spending some days in the office and others working remotely. Details will be discussed during your interview. How You’ll Succeed
- Assist with Data Governance Initiatives - Help review and document feedback on data governance programs and learn how data quality and automation are managed.
- Support Documentation and Automation - Assist in creating and updating materials like process flows, glossaries, data dictionaries, and procedure documents. Help organize and track data governance issues. Use basic automation tools to help make documentation and reporting more efficient.
- Help Develop Dashboards and Metrics - Support the team in collecting and organizing data for dashboards and reports. Learn how to measure and visualize data quality and governance metrics.
- Prepare Presentation Materials - Help gather and organize information for presentations and reports for the Data Governance Teams. Assist with follow-up actions to support the team’s goals.
- Build Relationships - Work with team members from different departments to understand data governance requirements. Communicate clearly and help ensure everyone is informed and aligned.
Who You Are
- Eager to Learn About Data Governance - You are interested in data governance, data quality, and automation. Any experience with organizing information, documentation, or data is an asset but not required.
- Analytical and Detail-Oriented - You enjoy working with data and are comfortable tracking information. Familiarity with Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools is an asset.
- Problem Solver - You approach tasks with curiosity and a willingness to find solutions. You ask questions and look for ways to improve processes.
- Strong ommunicator - You can clearly and respectfully share information with others, both in writing and in person.
