Life, Learning and Leisure Activity Aid Floater

Overview
The Life, Learning and Leisure (LLL) Activity Aide Floater supports the consistent delivery of resident engagement programming across Silvera communities by assisting with activities, events and outings, encouraging resident participation and providing coverage during staff absences. This role helps ensure continuity of LLL programming while contributing to a welcoming, safe, and vibrant community environment that supports residents’ physical, cognitive, social and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of daily programs and activities within the three program pillars: Silvera Artist, Silvera Scholar and Silvera Athlete - including fitness, cognitive programs, social activities, and educational sessions.
- Support residents in participating in activities by providing encouragement, guidance and assistance as needed.
- Help set up and take down equipment, organize supplies and make room arrangements for activities and events.
- Support special events, seasonal celebrations, and community gatherings.
- Assist with resident outings.
- Build positive relationships with residents and support their participation in programs.
- Provide support to residents who may require additional encouragement or assistance to participate in activities.
- Assist in adapting activities to meet the needs of residents living with mobility limitations or cognitive changes.
- Assist with tracking attendance and participation in programs.
- Help maintain the inventory of activity supplies and equipment.
- Assist with documentation related to programming as required.
- Assist with coordinating and supporting volunteers participating in the three key areas of volunteer engagement: Silvera Care Days, Silvera Bike Program and Silvera Strive.
- Help orient volunteers to activities and resident needs.
Qualifications
- Experience working with seniors or in seniors housing, supportive living, or community recreation programs.
- Knowledge of the physical, social, and emotional needs of older adults.
- Understanding of dementia and cognitive decline considered an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with older adults and encourage participation.
- Compassion, patience, and a positive attitude.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt programs to meet varying resident abilities.

Work Conditions
- Interaction with residents who may have mobility challenges, cognitive impairment, or chronic health conditions.
- Must have valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle, as travel between Silvera communities is required.
- Schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends depending on programming needs.
- Work within different environments, both within a primary location as well as alternate locations.
- Be flexible and able to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines, on occasion work under somewhat stressful situations.
HOURS OF WORK
- Scheduled hours will include a variety of day shifts from Monday through Sunday, with availability to flex into evening and/or weekend shifts to meet program demands.
