EXPERIENCED OFFICER

Job Type: Regular, Full Time Location: Mississauga/ Brampton, Ontario

As an Experienced Officer you will be responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining public order, conducting criminal investigations, gathering evidence, and responding to incidents. The role involves collaborating closely with community members, handling emergency situations promptly, and upholding public safety and trust

What will your typical day look like? Preserve the peace; Prevent crimes, other offences and providing assistance and encouragement to other persons in their prevention; Assist victims of crime; Apprehend criminals, other offenders and others who may lawfully be taken into custody; Lay charges and participate in prosecutions; Execute warrants and perform related duties; Perform the lawful duties that the Chief of Police assigns; Enforce municipal by-laws; Respond to calls for service; Successfully complete prescribed training; Commitment to Community-Based Policing principles and practices; Display cultural competence when interacting with members of the community; Perform 12-hour shifts (days and nights) including weekends and holidays.

You are someone with

Experience as a sworn Police Officer in Canada; Possess Basic Constable Training (BCT) Certification from one of the following institutions: Ontario Police College; Atlantic Police Academy; British Columbia Justice Institute; Calgary Police Service; Ecole Nationale de Police du Quebec; Edmonton Police Service; Saskatchewan Police College; and, Winnipeg Police Service. (Note: only currently serving R.C.M.P. officers with municipal policing experience will be considered for BCT exemption by O.P.C.); Formerly serving officers who have been absent from policing for several years may be required to re-attend OPC for current BCT certification; Be of good moral character and habits; Be in good health and meet the fitness, psychological and medical requirements of the Peel Regional Police Service; Employment as a police officer in a Canadian jurisdiction has not previously been terminated for cause, or resigned in lieu of being terminated for cause; Experienced officers may be subject to other hiring requirements as determined by the Inspector of Recruitment and Staff Support

Constable, 1st Class - $121,368

Constable, 2nd Class - $101,298 Constable, 3rd Class - $90,044 Constable, 4th Class - $81,790

The salary is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
