About the role
Network Support Engineer – Secret Clearance Eligible Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid)
Security Clearance: Candidates must currently hold, or be eligible to obtain, Government of Canada Secret or NATO Secret security clearance.
The Select Group is partnering with a leading global technology organization to identify a Network Support Engineer to support critical infrastructure environments across Canada. This role will sit within a high-touch technical support organization responsible for supporting complex enterprise networking environments for some of the country's most important customers.
This team operates as a senior technical escalation and troubleshooting group , working closely with customer engineering teams, internal product specialists, and advanced support organizations to resolve complex network issues and maintain highly available environments.
The ideal candidate brings strong routing and switching experience , enjoys deep technical troubleshooting, and thrives in highly collaborative environments supporting large-scale networks.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for large-scale enterprise networking environments.
- Investigate and resolve complex routing, switching, and connectivity issues impacting customer networks.
- Partner with customer engineering teams and internal specialists to diagnose and resolve network incidents.
- Analyze logs, packet captures, and device configurations to determine root cause of network issues.
- Support incident response during critical network outages and provide real-time troubleshooting guidance.
- Contribute to internal knowledge bases and documentation to improve troubleshooting processes and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise networking environments.
- Strong understanding of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, or IS-IS.
- Experience supporting Layer 2 technologies including VLANs, STP/RSTP, EtherChannel, and 802.1X.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise routing and switching platforms used in large-scale environments.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network issues within enterprise or service provider environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Canadian citizenship with active Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in network operations, technical support, or escalation engineering environments.
- Familiarity with large enterprise switching and routing platforms used in modern data center and campus networks.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification.
- Experience supporting government, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure environments.
