What You’ll Do

As part of our coastal team and interdisciplinary teams, you will:

  • develop and run computational models of coastal and estuarine processes
  • conduct field investigations and data collection programs
  • use spreadsheet, programming, and GIS tools to assess geomorphology and other coastal processes;
  • develop coastal flood maps, including regulatory and risk maps
  • design traditional and nature-based coastal structures, including flood protection infrastructure, erosion mitigation works, and shoreline access & recreation features
  • incorporate sustainable practices, considering the long-term impacts of projects on coastal ecosystems;
  • support other KWL teams working on varied projects including riverine engineering, stormwater management, dam safety, mine water management, and land development.

What You’ll Bring

  • A positive and motivated personality!
  • A Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering or equivalent
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience (candidates with more experience may be considered for an intermediate role)
  • The ability to work in Canada
  • Eligibility to register with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
  • Experience with programming, preferably in the Python language
  • Experience with coastal modelling
  • Experience with GIS software is an asset
  • Experience working with High Performance Computers and Cloud Computing is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to work with team members in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • A desire to learn new skills and an eagerness to grow within your role
  • A valid driver’s license (in good standing) is mandatory
  • Must be physically able to conduct field visits commensurate with project work. This may include handling and operation of equipment, travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, and outdoor site visits in all weather conditions on uneven/varying ground terrain.

Wage Range

  • $78,900 - $89,700, wage dependent on years of experience and education level

Start Date

  • Start with us as soon as possible, ideally before the end of 2025
