We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual who wants to make an impact on our organization and community in this upcoming vacancy as Financial Analyst (19-Month Contract), working within our Financial Services Team!
Working in a cross-functional and forward-thinking environment, and in support of the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, and our core values of “Community First. Future Ready. Balance Always.”, you will work in collaboration with the Treasurer and Supervisors, coordinating the preparation, presentation and ongoing management of the Town’s annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts and will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Town’s capital and operating budget processes , including review of the 10-year capital plan (funding sources, cash flow forecasting, affordability, and financing requirements), as well as operating business plans, budget and forecast submissions aligned with corporate targets, user fee analysis, and service level change requests.
- Assisting with the external audit and financial reporting , including preparation of consolidated financial statements, supporting working papers, and legislated financial information returns.
- Managing the core accounting functions , including general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations, journal entries, HST remittances, and support for accounts payable processes.
- Maintaining the asset and fixed asset ledger in accordance with established policies and procedures, including analysis of developer agreements and as-built documentation.
- Providing financial analysis and advisory services , including preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, monitoring budget performance, identifying variances, recommending mitigation strategies, and advising departments on financial structures and internal controls.
The preferred candidate holds:
- University degree in Commerce or Business Administration, or related field of study.
- A recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in the accounting and finance field, preferably in a municipal environment.
- Availability to accommodate deadlines, meetings, and peak periods that may extend beyond the normal workday or occur on evenings/weekends as may be required.
Closing date is March 16, 2026.
The wage range for this position is $46.07 - $54.81 per hour (Based on a 35-hour week) and the successful candidate will be compensated within this range.
