About the role

As a co-op student supporting the Program Management team for the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) program, you will assist with various administrative and operational tasks to ensure the smooth execution of program related initiatives. These positions could support the end‑stage project management activities required to bring AOPS vessels to Sea Trials and Delivery this Fall. You also could be tasked in ensuring the business has all the information required for Delivery and the reporting/tracking on the status of the overall condition of the program.

This opportunity offers hands-on experience in program management within the maritime industry, providing an opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable insights into project coordination and management.

  • Supporting the Programs team with coordination between production and customer, managing internal and external stakeholders.

  • Process improvement projects, reducing waste, and delivering customer requirement.

  • Help with development of processes, KPIs, reporting, and training.

  • Leverage strong communication skills to engage with internal stakeholders across several departments, including Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to prepare and deliver internal and external progress updates.

  • Completion of project and team performance reporting.

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program related to:

    • Business Administration
    • Commerce
    • Engineering
  • 0-2 years’ experience.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and openness to learning new technology.

  • Skilled in organizing and managing a variety of tasks with varying priorities and is a fast learner and effective problem solver.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
