About the role

PURPOSE

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance of the resort property, ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained as well as assisting in preventative maintenance measures. They perform various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Basic experience in maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry in a hotel environment preferred
  • Fluent English (written, reading and verbal). Other languages an asset

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Mechanical rounds: Daily checks and PM steps on all mechanical equipment and mechanical rooms, including proper recording and reporting via log sheet.
  • Operates, maintains and repairs equipment throughout the facility by performing duties such as starting up and shutting down boilers and related heating, air conditioning, and ventilation machinery, monitoring, recording and adjusting temperature and pressure levels, carrying out scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on facility equipment, seals, fans and pumps. This position performs trade duties approaching the journeyman level and works without direct supervision.
  • Able to utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System to track maintenance and repairs and document all time and materials onto Work Orders. Guest requests: Respond to guest requests passed on from any department immediately, deal with the situation within 10 minutes of it being reported, call switchboard to report status within 20 minutes of request.
  • Liaise, in a professional manner at all times, with outside contractors to complete authorized checks and repairs of equipment. To ensure work performed by outside contractors is performed in an acceptable manner and the site is left in acceptable condition.
  • To constantly update mechanical inventory lists, correct mistakes, and update drawings/blueprints when found to be incorrect.
  • Painting: Touch-ups as assigned by department supervisor and Chief Engineer.
  • Snow removal: Daily checks and clean-up of snow at fire exits of property.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Chief Engineering.
  • To follow proper “Safe Work Practices”, fill out appropriate shut down notices, use lock out procedures, and report all unsafe conditions to management.
  • Follow company and departmental policies and procedures.
