About the role
What this job involves: JLL is hiring a Building Operator to join the Facility Management team (FMT)at one of it's prominent clients in Ottawa based in Kanata area. They are a global leader in high speed connectivity and their Ottawa operations boast a showcase campus which includes a flagship R&D centre.
We will leverage your expertise in managing critical environments to ensure smooth operations 24/7. The FMT members participate in a on-call rotation for coverage in the evening and weekends.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Performs all assigned maintenance departmental service requests, ensuring that work performed in these areas is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.
- Completes assigned elements of the preventative maintenance program.
- Completes assigned training to the operations staff. Demonstrates the proper use and care of tools and instruments, and understands basic maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Ensure that work performed in client space is accomplished with a minimum of disruption and is followed by adequate cleanup
- Perform maintenance, monitoring repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned
- Record readings and adjust where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment
- Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts to maintain the HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace
- Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Will be part of the on-call rotation responding to emergencies 24 hrs a day during their portion of the rotation.
- Perform additional job duties as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in commercial building operations
- Building Environmental Systems (BES) certification or two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC.
- Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and Outlook.
- Must be available for the on-call rotation.
