Position Summary: Responsible for the provision and promotion of optimal nutritional care to clients according to professional Standards of Practice. Collaborates with patients, families, health care professionals and physicians to assess and monitor patient’s nutritional status. Identifies interventions in order to achieve optimal nutritional outcomes. Position provides nutrition care to long term residents, in-patients, out-patients and dialysis patients. The position of Clinical Dietitian functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition, Dietetics or related area required.
- Graduate of Dietitians of Canada approved internship required.
- Registration and good standing with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba required.
- Member of Dietitians of Canada.
- Must have effective written and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt readily to a changing environment and respond with initiative.
- Demonstrated planning, organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize workload.
- Must be able to function with minimum direction. .
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical analysis skills.
- Ability to use professional judgment to adapt and apply evidenced based guidelines, protocols and professional standards of care to new and changing needs of others.
- Ability to function in a computerized environment.
- Vehicle and valid Driver’s License is required to travel to all sites within the region.
- Knowledge and respect of Indigenous culture and experience in working effectively with Indigenous people including First Nation’s People.
- Experience in swallowing assessments is preferred.
- Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position. Satisfactory employment record.
