Assistant, Accounting - Halifax
About the role
Position Summary JOB DESCRIPTION Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for various audit functions. Must be collaborative, excel at multi-tasking and display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Contributes to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Motivates, leads by example, and provides a learning environment. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures. Above all else, the Accounting Assistant must embrace, be aligned with, and help enhance Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.
Key Accountabilities For Banquets Accounting
- Accounts Receivable accounting for banquets and reconciliation of Aging Report
For Revenue Audit
- Review Slot Games paperwork and balance daily revenues and volumes in the Slot Accounting system (SDS).
- Review Table Games paperwork and balance daily revenues and volumes in the Table Accounting system (CMP).
- Review all closing cash and token chips paperwork to ensure the change in inventory is accounted for.
- Balance the Slot accounting system, the Tables accounting system, the Cage spreadsheet and paperwork, and the Count Room paperwork, and determine if adjustments are required
- Balance month to date and year to date casino gaming win and volume results and investigate discrepancies.
- Review F&B cash drops for variances and balance F&B floats.
- Troubleshooting the gaming system, verifying data, or providing input if there are discrepancies.
- Prepare daily Revenue Summary and submit as required on a weekly and monthly basis.

- Communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments.

Education And Qualifications
- High School Diploma; Post Secondary accounting education or suitable combination of education and experience
- Minimum 1 years of experience in accounting and cash handling
- Food Safety Certificate
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
- Computer literacy in MS Office; accounting software experience an asset
- Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
