Position Details
If you’re energized by meaningful work that helps an entire community thrive, you’ll find a home with us. As the HR Assistant / Assistant to the AVP, Human Resources, you’ll become a central connector within a dynamic HR team—supporting people, processes, and ideas that shape the employee experience across the university. This role goes beyond traditional administrative support: you’ll help keep complex HR operations moving smoothly, assist with high‑volume inquiries, contribute to budget oversight, and support events and programs that recognize and uplift our people. It’s a role for someone who loves variety, appreciates structure, and is curious about the inner workings of human resources.
Expect every day to bring something different—whether you’re ensuring documentation is accurate and confidential, coordinating with leaders across campus, or helping refine the processes that make HR work better for everyone. You’ll build relationships, deepen your knowledge of HR fundamentals, and play a crucial part in delivering timely, thoughtful service.
This role is designed for someone who thrives when they’re trusted with responsibility, who likes to anticipate what’s needed next, and who takes pride in creating order, clarity, and a positive experience for others. If you’re looking for an opportunity to grow in a supportive environment where your contributions truly matter, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the high‑volume HR inbox and respond to employee and manager inquiries.
- Receive, track, and process HR documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and other HR service activities, including posting jobs and generating employment verification letters.
- Track, monitor, and reconcile HR departmental budgets and financial transactions.
- Prepare financial summaries, spreadsheets, and year‑end documentation.
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and coordinate travel and events for the AVP, HR.
- Support office management tasks including facilities requests, supply ordering, and departmental communications.
- Assist with HR event coordination such as Long Service Awards and job fairs.
- Contribute to developing and updating HR resources, procedures, and guides.
What Makes This Role Unique
This position will give you a rare visibility into both the operational and people‑focused side of Human Resources. You’ll partner closely with the AVP, HR, while also contributing meaningfully to the full HR team.
