GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
We are looking for a specialized recreation leader at a working supervisor level in overseeing the day- to-day operations, programs and activities of a weight room. You will supervise a moderate group of staff engaged in diverse weight room activities; monitor operating budgets and inventories; interact with a wide range of clients, promote interest and participation in fitness activities; assist in the development and implementation of fitness programs, special events and workshops; develop and collaborate on a youth focused portfolio; and ensure quality weight room services are provided. You will work independently and on staff team initiatives.

ABOUT YOU
You will have considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of individual weight training and fitness programs and of the various types of weight training equipment. You will have considerable knowledge of personal training, rehabilitation services, and youth training principles, as well as working knowledge of the principles of anatomy and physiology as it applies to the work performed. You will be knowledgeable of the interests, requirements and resources of the community served. As the supervisor you will assign, supervise and review the work of staff and volunteers, conduct staff and volunteer orientation and in-service training and oversee weight room operations. You will have an ability to evaluate individuals' fitness levels, develop individual weight training and fitness programs, and provide advice, guidance and referral services relative to health, fitness and wellness matters. You have experience developing and implementing youth training opportunities, including youth athletes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
You have completed a post-secondary degree in a recognized fitness and health discipline and some related experience in a supervisory capacity. You have a B.C. Driver's License. You have valid accreditation with the BCRPA Fitness Leadership program or equivalent. You have Emergency First Aid CPR-C & AED.

This is a regular full-time position, beginning June 19, 2026, working 35 hours per week including weekends, days and/or evenings based on operational needs. The pay for this unionized regular full- time position starts at step 1, $33.25 and ranges up to $39.14 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit package that includes enrolment into group life insurance, extended health, dental benefits, the Municipal Pension Plan upon eligibility, and the option of participating in the Earned Days Off program.

All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.

The successful applicant will be required to use their own vehicle when necessary. Mileage is reimbursed at the appropriate rates.

All candidates are required to submit a Police Record Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
