Job Details

Description Role: Custodial Attendant to provide cleaning of our buildings and to aid in creating a clean and safe environment for both customers and employees.

Reports to: Facilities Services, Infrastructure Capital, & OHS Manager

Availability: This is an on-call position with shifts scheduled from 7am to 3pm and 3pm to 11pm on weekdays and weekends as required by business needs. Priority will be given to candidates with flexible availability for both weekdays and weekends.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform a variety of basic custodial functions following established standards for cleanliness and safety. Duties may include but are not limited to: scrubbing, cleaning, and sanitizing washrooms, shower facilities, meeting rooms, offices, locker rooms, gyms, and the cafeteria; replenishing lavatory supplies, removing trash, and emptying waste baskets; sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and buffing floors; cleaning windows, walls, fans, and light fixtures; dusting, etc.
  • Operate various cleaning machines (e.g., wet and dry vacuums, auto scrubber)
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly duties as outlined on duty list
  • Maintain a clean and orderly supply closet
  • Use appropriate cleaning products in appropriate areas
  • Handle all products safely and reading MSDS sheets prior to using any new products
  • Respond to facility custodial inquiries as needed
  • Submit work requests upon discovering facility items needing repair
  • Interact and communicate with the immediate supervisor, co-workers, employees, and customers
  • Always maintain a professional appearance

Qualifications: What You’ll Need:

  • 2-3 years of related experience
  • Employment Security Check is required including the ability to work around the vulnerable, i.e. children, seniors, and those with disabilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and accurately follow verbal or written instructions in English.
  • Able to plan work and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Basic CPR, First Aid, WHMIS, and Fall Protection training would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including:
  • Standing for an extended period of time, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, listening, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Lifting 50lbs maximum.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 20lbs.
  • Physically capable to climb, bend, crawl, and lift.
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, and being comfortable working at various heights.
  • May involve sitting with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
