The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Planner, Asset Strategy at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

Position Planner, Asset Strategy Location Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Supervisor the Planner, Asset Strategy will be responsible for Maintenance of asset lifecycle models, and owner of maintenance cost tracking kpi’s. Leading and driving Zero based budgeting, and identify opportunities for improvement and promote Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate fleet availability and maintenance costs versus performance benchmarks and provide recommendations in order to reduce the operating cost of equipment,
  • Maintenance of asset lifecycle models ensuring changes are reflected in business plans,
  • Creates and fosters a respectful workplace and culture of continuous improvement,
  • Consistently execute a strong maintenance business process, including major component replacement, and equipment maintenance best practices,
  • Works with reliability and maintenance planning teams to ensure fit for purpose strategies are ready for new assets when they go in service, and business plans are updated,
  • Maintain equipment tracking records, component tracking records and all work history,
  • Experience managing projects, including budgeting, and cost analysis,
  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets. Work within assigned budgets and escalate to management should a budget be exceeded,
  • Provide detailed plans/forecasts for mine engineering department to co-ordinate mining/maintenance activities,
  • Embrace a strong commitment to safety and environmental protection as top priorities, and ensure compliance with all corporate, governmental and site safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

Education & Experience

  • Accounting and finance experience preferably in capital intensive industry (mining, manufacturing, oil and gas),
  • Post-secondary education with a technical focus or an applicable Technician License,
  • Planning experience in heavy industry with mobile mining equipment,
  • Proficient user of Google Workspace, Word, and Excel,
  • Previous mobile equipment planning experience is an asset,
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present facts clearly,
  • Superior analytical and critical thinking skills,
  • Knowledge of mobile mining equipment is considered an asset,
  • A working knowledge of CMMS (SAP preferred) is considered an asset,
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly,
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills,
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members in a positive manner,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
  • Occasional exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
  • Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as

noise and working in dusty and wet environments.

Salary Range $95K – $105K / annum
