-Recruitment range: $65,860 - $72,607starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement. -Performance range: $85,633salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Based in the Research Centre, Faculty of Health at the University of Victoria, this position plays an integral role in providing the infrastructure for research and scholarly activities within the Faculty, specifically for grant development and application facilitation for faculty members.
Reporting to the Research Support Team Lead and the Associate Director, Research Grants, Office of Research Services, VP Research and Innovation, this position will serve as the pre-award grants administrator and provide expertise in the preparation of grant proposals submitted by faculty to all intra- and extramural funding sources. In addition, this position will participate in the development and implementation of sound administrative processes that support the scholarly endeavors of the Faculty, with a focus on those related to pre-grant support and procedures.
The Research Coordinator will work closely within the Research Centre team to help implement the goals of the Centre.
Job Requirements
This position requires an Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline (health, behavioral or social sciences, education) with three year demonstrated related experience with:
- Research, ethics applications, grant writing, data collection and analysis.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge requirements include:
- Managing projects from start to finish
- A thorough understanding of institutional policies, procedures, rules and practices is necessary for the successful performance of this position. This includes keeping abreast of the current rules and regulations at UVic pertaining to the grants process.
- High degree of computer expertise in order to function effectively using the campus and school centralized systems.
Competency requirements include:
- Strong project co-ordination and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent writing and editing capabilities.
- Ability to autonomously develop efficient and effective strategies and effectively problem solve and prioritize
- Ability to multitask, and manage sensitive time-lines for the accomplishment of objectives that have significant financial impact.
- Capacity to develop a thorough understanding of the pre-award process is required
- Ability to independently process and interpret written policy and guidelines.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines; work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders
- Proven track record achieving project goals on time and produce deliverables of a high quality
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel
Assets or Preferences:
- Familiarity with university/academic systems and procedures an asset.
