Intermediate Designer/Drafter
Purpose of the Position: The Intermediate Designer/Drafter, under the direction of the Senior Designer and Drafting Manager, is required to perform and be accountable for managing and executing multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. They must be able to take on a leadership role to manage smaller well site tie-ins, pipelines developments and brown field retrofit projects independently yet be able to be a member of a design team in support of larger projects as necessary. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is an asset for this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare drawing packages for the following: o Oil batteries and compressor stations o Sweet/sour oil and gas gathering systems o Battery and compressor station expansions o Water injection and water treatment facilities o Refrigeration plants o Gas blanketing and incineration flaring systems
- Coordinating multiple smaller projects to maintain cost and schedule expectations
- Prepare Line Lists, Valve Lists, Tie-In Lists and Bill of Materials
- Reviews drawings prepared by other drafters/designers for accuracy, completeness and compatibility of designs between disciplines
- Provide technical piping design work to develop project drawings to meet project deliverables and communicate such to the project/design team
- Ongoing and proactive communication with Drafting Manager regarding project status and deliverables
- Ensure that all projects conform to client specifications, codes and standards
- Proactively work with Document Control to maintain project issue dates
- Support Grey Owl Engineering’s HSE initiatives Requirements:
- 3-5+ years’ experience work with operating facilities, fabrication shops and/or EPCM firms
- Prefer experience within conventional gas plants, well site, batteries, full service terminal facilities
- Technical Diploma in Design/Drafting from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Must be proficient with the following design software: o AutoCAD, ProCAD, CadWorx Pro., IsoGen, Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D (previous experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is considered a strong asset for this position)
- Microsoft Office Software - Familiarity with the development procedure of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot Plans, General Arrangements and Isometrics
- Strong skills in drafting and design fundamentals
- Sound understanding of engineering design principles and design codes
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment while approaching job responsibilities in a positive manner
- Motivated self-starter who is growth orientated and willing to receive direction
