Job Summary

Develop and implement cost-effective systems, policies, and procedures which ensure payrolls are issued in a timely and accurate manner for all associates. Provide both financial and management reporting for the purpose of updating financial statements and to oversee integration of acquisitions into the payroll process. Ensure the organization is in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory requirements, including reporting wage and employment information, remitting associate/employer taxes and various withholdings (i.e. garnishments), and maintaining associate/employer records.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Manages payroll processes for all associates.
  • Ensures payroll is completed accurately and on time.
  • Generates multiple payroll reports, including Finance and Workers' Compensation reports.
  • Completes general ledger entries for import process.
  • Researches and interprets state laws to set up payroll taxes and federal IDs.
  • Interacts with vendors, third party tax providers, printers, etc. on issues related to payroll.
  • Assists with the integration of acquisitions into the payroll process, gathering information, and meeting with acquisition representatives as needed.
  • Resolves questions regarding payroll.

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
