EveryMind Mental Health Services is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic accounting professional for the 8 -month contract position of Accountant with the Finance team.

Summary of Function

The Accountant provides accurate and timely processing, payment and coding of all accounts payable. The incumbent is responsible for all journal entries, bank reconciliations, monthly financial statements and responds to staff and vendor enquiries. The incumbent is knowledgeable in the areas of departmental structures, budgets and policies and procedures, ensuring that all purchases are made by authorized persons in accordance with authorized procedures and are in keeping with the organization’s Mission Vision, Values, , accreditation standards, policies and procedures, and annual Service Plan.

This is a new position for an 8-month contract.

Hiring Salary Range: Annually $70,181.96 - $72,989.24 (Step 1 to Step 2 in a 5-Step payband)

Please note that hiring salaries are commensurate with experience and generally start at the beginning of the range.

Job Responsibilities:

The incumbent will:

Prepares bank reconciliations, monthly account reconciliations, month end journal entries and monthly financial statements. Assists in budgets, Ministry reporting, and lead sheets for year end audit. Processes accounts payable in a timely manner and with attention to detail. Balances petty cash from all programs and calculate allowance for CAS clients. Prepares and processes EFT payments, online bill payments, and US bank transfers. Also makes bank deposits and conduct other banking business as required. Organizes and coordinates purchasing undertaken by specialty purchasing areas (Information Systems, Maintenance, etc.) and ensures that approved procedures are followed. Assigns purchase order numbers, place orders, and designate place of delivery of goods. Purchases and coordinate delivery of computer supplies and office furnishings including obtaining quotes for large orders and authorizes office and housekeeping supplies, ensuring paperwork is complete, including filing purchase orders and requisitions, matching delivery slips and invoices with purchase order, verifying costs. Maintains departmental records, updating files and ensuring that they are current and properly identified. Prepares accounts receivable invoices and reconcile monthly. Liaises with management regarding financial statement inquiries and monitoring reports. Review monthly and follow up as required. Ensures contracts for snow removal, landscaping, cleaning, etc. are renewed in a timely manner and validate contracts. Responds to staff and vendor inquiries regarding purchasing and payables. Organizes and maintains electronic and physical filing of current accounts payable records and storage of past financial records in accordance with policies, procedures and legislation. Coordinates OHIP billing process in ABEL Med Provides backup to the Payroll Specialist position as required. This may require processing of full cycle payroll and working knowledge of employment and income tax legislation. Completes HST and Property Tax Rebate and Reconciliation Liaises with insurance provider to ensure accuracy and receipt of certificates as required. Responds to staff inquiries regarding insurance coverage, accident reporting etc. Assists in preparation of annual Charity Return for the Charities Directorate Undertakes special projects as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

A post secondary education in accounting (diploma or degree). A minimum of three years directly related experience in an accounting position. Completion/near completion of an Accounting Designation (CPA). Demonstrated analytical and proven detail-oriented skills. Proficiency with computerized bookkeeping systems, and a proven ability to work at an advanced level in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software. Great Plains Accounting Software knowledge and experience would be an asset. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio, Covid-19 Vaccination), is required;
