Role Description The Dispatcher role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. The Dispatcher coordinates daily truck movements, assigns loads to drivers, plans routes, and monitors schedules to ensure timely pickups and deliveries across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. This role involves communicating regularly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve issues, and adjust plans as needed. The Dispatcher maintains accurate records in dispatch and transportation management systems, tracks equipment and driver status, and supports compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The position requires consistent attention to detail, effective problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy operations environment.
Qualifications
Experience in dispatching or transportation operations, preferably in truckload or cross-border logistics. Strong communication skills for coordinating with drivers, customers, and internal teams. Ability to prioritize, plan routes, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting. Comfort with using dispatch software, GPS tracking tools, and general computer applications. Knowledge of North American geography and basic cross-border transportation processes is an asset. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, load tracking, and scheduling. Problem-solving skills to address delays, equipment issues, and schedule changes in real time. Willingness to work shifts that may include evenings or weekends, based on operational needs. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics or transportation is beneficial. Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and non-discriminatory, inclusive workplace practices.
