While working towards your actuarial credential (e.g. completing your Fellowship of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) you will rotate to a different department every 18-24 months within BMO Insurance. This program will give Actuarial graduates an opportunity to broaden their actuarial and business experience, working within various areas of the organization.

This role starts June 2026. We are actively seeking students enrolled in a related undergraduate degree program, graduating Spring 2026.

- Actuarial Pricing & Reinsurance
- Corporate Actuarial
- Institutional
- Investments & AML
- Corporate Risk
As an Actuarial Associate joining BMO Insurance you will be placed in high-performing and dynamic teams where you will gain exposure to various products, initiatives, and leaders. Your roles and responsibilities may include:
- Working with stakeholders across BMO Insurance and the Enterprise to calculate, analyze, and report Economic Capital.
- Analyze, evaluate and compare competitor insurance products.
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Build effective relationships and ensure alignment between stakeholders.
- Analyze company data to provide management reporting on insurance industry and internal business trends.
- Create and validate Excel spreadsheets to accurately reflect product values, marketing concepts, reporting metrics, and company profitability, including analysis and commentary.
- Break down strategic problems and analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
- Provide input for continuous improvement of processes and procedures to support more effective operations.
- Provide sales support and business expertise in the production of insurance quotes upon request.
- Perform required illustrations based on defined parameters using business judgement, and make appropriate referrals for illustrations of higher complexity and large policy over product's maximum issue limit.
- Provide input into product design using actuarial experience and competitive & industry knowledge, including presenting counter proposals as required for new and existing products.
- Think creatively and propose new solutions.
- Exercise judgement to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an actuarial science or mathematics degree program, graduating Spring 2026.
- Successful completion of at least 1 SOA exam or equivalent, and actively pursuing an FSA/FCIA designation.
- Combination of excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong work ethic.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel.
- Knowledge of life insurance and wealth products is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Exhibits outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to influence peers and leaders.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
