About the role

The Incident Investigation Specialist is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing workplace incident investigations across the organization. This includes injury incidents, equipment damage incidents, equipment failures, near misses, safety concerns, and operational deviations. The role ensures investigations are conducted thoroughly, objectively, and in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures. They will identify root causes, develop investigative reports, and support the organization in preventing recurrence through clear, actionable recommendations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Mentor, lead and manage all workplace incident investigations from initial notification through to final report.
  • Ensure investigations follow internally recognized methodologies
  • Collect, analyze, and document evidence including statements, photos, timelines, and technical data.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis and contribute to corrective and preventive action development.
  • Produce high‑quality, professionally written investigation reports suitable for executives, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain investigation documentation, case files, and tracking systems with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and oversight to supervisors and teams involved in incident investigations.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all incidents, near misses, and stop‑work events.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and systemic issues by reviewing investigation outcomes.
  • Present investigation findings to leadership, field operations, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Support continuous improvement of the company’s investigation process, tools, and training.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and follow‑ups related to corrective action effectiveness.

This role is required to react to change productively and to undertake other tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions Primarily office-based with the potential for a site visit if required for Serious Injury or Fatality (SIF) Potential Investigations

Knowledge Skills And Abilities

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience conducting workplace incident investigations (oil & gas preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise with an investigation methodology and root cause analysis (formal training in DNV Investigation Technique considered an asset).
  • Ability to analyze incident data to identify trends, recurring patterns, and systemic contributing factors, enabling the organization to proactively target high‑risk areas and strategically reduce or eliminate incident potential
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a proven ability to draft clear, concise, and defensible investigation reports.
  • Strong critical‑thinking and analytical capabilities, including data interpretation and contributing factors analysis.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in high‑stress or time‑sensitive situations.
  • High level of personal integrity, ethics, and objectivity.

Precision Well Servicing is responsible for well completions, workovers, and abandonments. We use a variety of service rigs that are suited to each scope of work. The wells are located in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin which includes Northern BC, Northwest Territories, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
