Instrumentation Data Administrator (Site C)
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Fort St. John Site C Constr Ofc
Employment type: Permanent Region: Northern Interior
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Field
Annual salary: $ 58,100.00 - 63,800.00
What you'll do
- Identifies and extracts relevant technical data from electronic files and information data sheets; enters and updates
information in various databases; verifies data received; identifies discrepancies related to instrument modifications,
improper codes, missing data, name changes, formatting errors etc. and follows up to investigate and correct the source of
problems and/or anomalies and/or refers to Dam Safety Engineers on programming or out of bounds data where a potential
dam safety problem exists; manipulates data and creates graphs and plots; performs daily back ups for Dam Smart
database.
- Prepares work orders for data recorder and field service instrumentation services related to scheduled readings and
special dam safety related surveys and studies in discussion with Dam Safety Engineer(s); determines monthly instrument
reading schedules, extracts survey data and templates for attachment to WO packages; issues to engineering; follows up
and closes completed work orders.
- Prepares recurring and ad hoc plots of data, file annotation and various data extract reports to facilitate quality assurance
and assessment of dam performance by Dam Safety Engineers; prepares data reduction and summary sheets using
custom software applications.
- Enters, maintains and updates the Instrument Asset database to track key reference information for dam related
instrumentation and measurement devices.
- Trains, and provides direction to other employees in the operation and use of Dam Smart software; verifies information for
completeness and accuracy prior to processing.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring
- Data processing, database concepts, operation and data extraction methods, recurring and ad hoc report and data
summary production methods and techniques. Knowledge is typically acquired through completion of post secondary data
processing and data management courses plus completion of BC Hydro courses in Common Desktop applications,
advanced database application and specialized departmental Dam Smart Instrumentation Database and related custom in
house software, email, scheduling and internet browser applications.
- A minimum of 1 year previous experience in the use and operation of advanced database applications, data extraction,
verification and correction, and work order preparation and processing. Well developed oral, written and interpersonal
communications and organization skills.

John), a minimum of once per month, for one week. Details to be discussed.
