Grade 5 Teacher Required for Ashmont School

Ashmont School requires a probationary full-time (1.0 FTE) Grade 5 teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

Ashmont School, located in Ashmont, Alberta is a K-12 school with approximately 470 students.

The Successful Candidate Will

have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate be committed to student-centered learning have the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs have skills in using formative and summative assessment to guide instruction have competency in integrating technology to enhance learning be collaborative and committed to building relationships with students, parents, and staff be flexible with their teaching assignment possess an educational background and professional experience that reflect an understanding of Indigenous perspectives, histories and cultures incorporate successful strategies from their professional background to provide effective, supportive teaching practices for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) learners with a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment where all students experience a strong sense of belonging.

Geographically and demographically, St. Paul Education covers a large rural/urban area in Northeast Alberta. We serve the communities of St. Paul, Elk Point, Two Hills, Mallaig, Ashmont, Myrnam and Heinsburg. We also serve students from Saddle Lake Cree Nation, Whitefish Lake First Nation #128, Frog Lake First Nation and Kehewin Cree Nation.

In 1995, parent and community stakeholders initiated the amalgamation of five school boards into what is now St. Paul Education. In doing so, St. Paul Education became the only school division in Alberta to operate both separate and public schools under one board. The Division’s religious, linguistic and cultural diversity is a source of strength and pride.

We serve 3640 students (K-12), including Catholic, First Nation, Mennonite, Hutterite and Home Schooling learners. Our 19 definable school sites are staffed by approximately 235 FTE teaching staff and 300 support staff.
