About the role
A career as an Associate Director in the Specialized Transactions and Products, Legal team means acting as a legal advisor specializing in structured finance and derivatives. You will advise on a broad range of asset acquisition and finance, mortgage-aggregation, securitization, and over-the-counter derivatives legal matters in a fast-paced, high-volume business environment. This role allows you to make a meaningful impact on our organization through your expertise in capital markets law, transaction structuring, and risk management.
Your role
- Provide legal advice on asset acquisition and financing, mortgage aggregation, securitization, and derivatives transactions across Canada
- Structure and draft documentation for public/private securitizations, asset acquisition and financing, mortgage aggregation, and complex derivative transactions
- Represent the Bank’s legal interests in legislative, business, and industry initiatives
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including risk, legal, compliance, tax, and accounting teams
- Manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risks in a fast-paced business environment
Your team
Within the Capital Markets Legal sector, you’ll be part of a dynamic team of 15 colleagues and report to the Managing Director, Specialized Transactions and Products, Legal. Our team stands out for its efficiency, responsiveness, creativity, and deep expertise. We aim to offer maximum flexibility to support your quality of life, including a hybrid work environment and adaptable schedules.

Prerequisites
- LL.B. or J.D. from a recognized law school and membership in good standing with a Canadian law society
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in securities law, structured finance, or banking law working in a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department
- Strong knowledge of the capital markets legal and regulatory framework in Canada, U.S., and other G20 countries
