This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 19 August 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 26 August 2025.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To perform all aspects of the radiation treatment process: patient care, patient education, simulation, treatment planning, treatment delivery and treatment monitoring within the regional radiation therapy program in compliance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all radiation treatment and planning procedures to ensure accurate delivery of a prescribed course of radiation therapy including: simulation, treatment delivery, basic dosimetry and brachytherapy;

  • Maintain an accurate record of all aspects of the treatment procedure, calculations, dose and all other relevant information;

  • Educate patients in all aspects of their prescribed treatment in accordance with the teaching standards as set out in MDRCC policy;

  • Interpret, assess and verify all treatment parameters, including dose distribution, simulator images, treatment accessories and R&V data;

  • Assess patient related problems and decide on the appropriate course of action;

  • Perform daily quality assurance procedures for assigned unit;

  • Maintain updated knowledge of departmental techniques and policies;

  • Participate in the development and execution of quality assurance procedures;

  • Maintain continuing competency through attending continuing education programs;

  • Work at satellite locations within regional program (Peterborough); and

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MRT(T). Graduate of a recognized Radiation Therapy training program with registration with the Canadian Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario;

  • Membership of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists recommended;

  • Current CPR registration;

  • Excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Demonstrated initiative, problem solving skills and adaptability;

  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;

  • Must have a satisfactory performance record;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in service education in this area;

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
