Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and enforcement of standardized engineering practices, processes, tools, templates, and methods for test and computation PMA product development.
  • Moves opportunities efficiently and effectively through the PMA product development funnel.
  • Works with the commercial team on customer engagement, both internally and externally, to identify and source opportunities for PMA product development.
  • Leads members of PMA integrated product team on executing to plan.
  • Supports recruiting and retention of world class engineering talent.
  • Provide oversight/leadership of design reviews from project initiation to product launch to post-launch support.
  • Partners with business unit leader to shape organizational design, culture, processes, and strategy.
  • Responsible for cost and schedule reporting, work package construction, budget allocation and control for PMA projects.
  • Supports the strategic planning process.
  • Support continuous improvement, project management, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Identify, investigate, and implement new technology and tools to address business goals and lead implementation of appropriate solutions.
  • May support projects for other certification types (e.g., STC, OPP, etc.) on an as-needed basis.
  • May have direct reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and 7+ years of Aerospace Engineering experience or an Advanced Degree from a related field and 5+ years of Aerospace Engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible test and computation PMA product development experience.
  • Experience leading test and computation PMA projects from feasibility through to post approval customer adoption activities.

Skills And Abilities

  • Expert understanding of the FAA orders and advisory circulars related to test and computation PMA development and certification.
  • Expert understanding of the PMA product development lifecycle and best practices for managing scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Familiarity with and exposure to industry working groups that support the test and computation PMA sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, business acumen, innovation, collaboration, written and verbal communication, presentation, analytical thinking, customer focus, and attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solver, able to coach others to solve problems independently and in group settings.
  • Adapts well to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Work experience in a research and development environment.
  • Prior experience in establishing engineering technical and business processes in an aerospace environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge and effective practice of aerospace quality practices such as ISO9001 and/or AS9100.
  • Working knowledge of quality and process improvement tools such as Six Sigma and LEAN.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office suite, MS Project, Vault/Fusion360, Teams, etc.
  • Experienced negotiator with the ability to manage conflict and negotiate to resolution.
  • Must be able to learn company systems.
  • Occasional travel to customers and industry events may be required.
  • Hours may vary due to organizational need.

Physical Requirements

  • Normal amount of sitting, there may be some walking, bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting and crawling associated with on-site inspections
  • On an occasional basis, may be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Some work may be performed in industrial settings
