West Fraser Electro Mechanical operates out of a 29,000 - square-foot facility in Prince George, BC, and is proud to be a trusted partner to the mining, pulp & paper, forestry, municipal, and transportation sectors across Western Canada.

Position Summary

The

General Manager

provides strategic and operational leadership across all facets of the organization, ensuring alignment between business vision, financial performance, operational excellence, and people development. This role is accountable for driving sustainable growth, optimizing resources, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration. Through effective leadership and strategic insight, the position ensures the company remains agile, competitive, and positioned for long-term success.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

People and Culture

  • Champion a safe, compliant, and high-performance workplace culture.

  • Oversee Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring ongoing compliance and employee engagement.

  • Attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent through effective leadership development and succession planning.

Leadership and Strategic Management

  • Develop and execute the company’s strategic plan to achieve sustainable growth and operational excellence.

  • Establish clear organizational goals, budgets, and KPIs aligned with corporate priorities.

  • Drive accountability, performance measurement, and continuous improvement through structured management reviews.

  • Collaborate with the executive team to shape policies, long-term business direction, and strategic partnerships.

  • Demonstrate and promote integrity, professionalism, and cross-functional collaboration across all levels of the organization.

Operations and Finance

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across production, logistics, and sales to ensure efficiency and quality.

  • Streamline processes and resource utilization to enhance productivity and profitability.

  • Ensure operational compliance with quality and safety standards (e.g., ISO certifications).

  • Maintain safe, cost-effective, and efficient facility operations within approved budgets.

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to optimize return on investment.

  • Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement.

  • Evaluate and prioritize capital expenditures with strategic and fiscal discipline.

Sales and Business Development

  • Drive revenue growth and profitability by achieving and exceeding annual sales targets.

  • Lead marketing, branding, and promotional initiatives to strengthen market visibility and competitive positioning.

  • Cultivate and sustain strong customer relationships through proactive communication, negotiation, and partnership.

  • Monitor market dynamics and emerging trends to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.

What You Will Bring:

  • The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience. They will demonstrate strong business acumen, leadership presence, and the ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational oversight.

  • Proven success in team leadership, budget management, and operational performance.

  • Commitment to the highest safety and quality standards, supported by ongoing professional development in leadership, safety, and technical skills.

  • Experience with quality and safety programs (e.g., ISO, CSA, UL) and familiarity with Six Sigma or DMAIC methodologies.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse audiences.

  • A proactive, adaptable, and client-focused mindset suited to a dynamic business environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business software.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
