###Overview
The People and Culture (HR)– Summer Student participates in various human resources (HR) generalist tasks to support the work of the People and Culture Department and Silvera, including recruitment, onboarding, learning & development (L&D), and payroll & benefits.
###Responsibilities
People Services Responsibilities
- Redesign onboarding documentation templates for uploading into Silvera’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Workzoom
- Assist with reports and PowerPoint presentations to communicate results with other internal partners such as senior management and the executives
- Maintain full compliance with internal policy and procedures
- Update employees’ HR files within SharePoint
Recruitment Responsibilities
- Assist with various aspects of the recruitment process including redesigning recruitment forms, interview questionnaires, and job descriptions
- Conduct prescreen interviews to evaluate candidate qualifications and suitability for open positions
- Support Welcome to Silvera, Silvera’s bi-weekly orientation, and other training events for staff
Learning & Development Responsibilities
- Assist L&D with maintaining the data integrity of Silvera’s Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Create/revise course content and documentation (facilitator presentations, participant guides, supplemental handouts, etc.)
- Support training events, including attendance, set-up, tear-down, and trouble-shooting technology
- Compile training assessment data and report on the reaction, learning, impact, and results of the programs, proving Silvera’s return on investment (ROI)
- Contribute with Silvera’s annual employee conference, including attendance management, prize allocation, PowerPoint slides creation, email/intranet communications
- Attend committee/team meetings, document action items and record meeting minutes
Administrative Responsibilities
- Ad hoc projects may be assigned to support all areas of People and Culture, including from the Payroll & Benefits Team or HR Leadership
###Qualifications
- Students must be between the age of 18-30 and eligible to work in Canada to meet the eligibility criteria of the Canada Summer Job grant
- Students must be enrolled in a business diploma, degree, or post-graduate program at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada
- Preference is for a student in their second year or later with a concentration/major in Human Resources, Management, Public Administration, Adult Education, or other equivalent programs
- Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams)

- Must be adaptable and can respond to a variety of changing priorities due to our ever-changing work environment.
- Must have access to reliable transportation as some travel is required to support our staff and residents in our multiple buildings throughout Calgary.
- To best support our students and to set them up for success, this is an in-person role that would be based at Silvera for Senior’s main administration office – 2535 3rd Ave SE, Calgary.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (37.5 hours per week)
- Flexibility of hours is available and at times may be necessary (in rare circumstances, working some evenings and weekends may be required)
