Job Summary:

Job Description:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance the Electrician Apprentice will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems under the guidance of experienced journeymen. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to electrical codes, and a willingness to learn the trade. You will be expected to support journeymen and foremen in various tasks while gaining hands-on experience and developing your skills.

Join our team as a temporary Electrical Apprentice. This is a developmental role aligned to a four‑year Electrical Apprenticeship program. The role is temporary in nature and will end once the apprentice successfully completes their program.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with installation, repair, and replacement of motors, drives, breakers, transformers, relays, and electrical control devices.
  • Participate in official apprenticeship program and attend classes as required.
  • Help diagnose electrical malfunctions and participate in corrective actions.
  • Use electrical test equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters) to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Follow work instructions and safety procedures as directed by supervisors and journeymen.
  • Use and maintain protective equipment and safety gear provided
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and work orders
  • Support preventative maintenance tasks on plant electrical systems and high voltage equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Participate in training and educational opportunities to advance technical skills
  • Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed.
  • Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions; Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Motivated individuals who want to learn electrical trade and have a high school diploma
  • Successfully register, enroll and participate in an electrical apprenticeship program (and remain in good standing) until program is completed.
  • Able to physically perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Willing to learn electrical codes and other construction safety requirements.

POSITION SCOPE/CONTRIBUTION:

The incumbent will play an important role in the safe and timely completion of routine and turnaround related electrical maintenance work. As a part of the routine of this position, special attention will have to be paid to the effects of all associated materials with respect to the Environmental, Health and Safety concerns generated by corporate policy. This scope of this position may also include temporary supervisory responsibilities.
