About the Role
The Associate Director, Operations leads operational excellence within SFU’s Meeting, Event and Conference Services (MECS), ensuring seamless delivery of high-impact events across all three campuses. This role is pivotal in executing SFU’s academic, community, and revenue goals through service innovation, strategic planning, and team leadership. As the university returns to in-person engagements, the Associate Director will help elevate event experiences through system upgrades, streamlined processes, and the integration of new spaces and technologies (Momentus, SharePoint, teams). Candidates with a passion for collaborative problem solving, client-focused service, and large-scale event delivery will thrive in this leadership role.
The ideal candidate is a strategic operations leader with a passion for service excellence and innovation in a post-secondary or public sector environment. They possess strong project management skills, proven team leadership, and the ability to manage complex logistics across multiple campuses. Key competencies include cross-functional collaboration, process optimization, and sound judgment in navigating institutional policy. Experience with enterprise event platforms (e.g., Momentus), catering and space management, and stakeholder engagement is essential. A proactive, adaptable mindset and commitment to equity, sustainability, and community-building are vital to driving MECS' evolving goals and elevating the SFU campus experience.
