About the role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Pay and receive payments for goods. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trip reports. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Organized. Reliability. Team player. Employment terms options: Evening. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
