Preferred Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in WWTP Compliance Operations.

Experience in oil & gas, SAGD, or industrial environments.

Proficiency with SAP, Word, and Excel is considered a strong asset.
Trade / Scope Specific
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
-
Read and interpret meters, gauges, and other sensing devices to monitor plant operation.
-
Adjust controls to regulate flow into the plant.
-
Monitor the water’s progress through various internal processes.
-
Operate pumps, valves, equipment, and chemical feeding systems.
-
Test and adjust chemical feed rates to ensure quality (for disinfection, taste, odor, and suppressants).
-
Take samples of the water or wastewater.
-
Perform routine lab tests and interpret results.
-
Keep detailed daily records of chemical test results, readings, and changes in plant operation.
-
Provide input into annual operating budgets.
-
Prepare monthly and annual reports.
-
Maintain stock of essential spare parts.
-
Operate computer data-acquisition systems, and data control and alarm systems.
-
Maintain equipment and make minor repairs to valves, pumps, etc.
-
Investigate taste and odor complaints.
-
Operate sludge-handling systems.
-
Monitor and adjust biological processes.
-
Monitor and provide for water demand management during peak flow periods.
-
Ensure water or wastewater always meets Government of Alberta standards.
-
Follow safety guidelines, approved processes, and procedures on the job site.
-
Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
-
Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors.
-
Communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
PPE Requirements
All WWTP Compliance Operator personnel are required to wear and maintain the following**personal protective equipment (PPE)**while on site:
- CSA-approved steel-toe safety boots
- Hard hat (CSA-approved)
- High-visibility vest or clothing
- Protective gloves suitable for plumbing and gasfitting tasks
- Safety glasses or goggles
- Hearing protection in designated high-noise areas
- Flame-resistant (FR) clothing where required
- Fall protection equipment (harness, lanyard, anchorage) when working at heights
- Respiratory protection when handling gases or chemical agents, as required
CP Services provides all required PPE and ensures personnel are trained in its proper use and maintenance in accordance with Alberta OHS legislation and site-specific requirements.
Work Environment
The WWTP Compliance Operator role is based onindustrial oil and gas worksites, which may include:
- Remote or rotational camp environments
- Confined spaces (boilers, pipelines, mechanical rooms)
- Elevated work areas requiring fall protection
- Exposure to gases, chemicals, heat, noise, and dust
- Outdoor conditions including extreme weather and variable temperatures
All personnel are expected to follow site-specific safety protocols, participate in required safety orientations, and maintain compliance with allAlberta OHS regulations. CP Services prioritizes a safe working environment and ensures employees have the necessary training, supervision, and equipment to perform their duties safely.
Please note the successful candidate will be required to pass a drug and alcohol, fit for work exam, Respiratory Fitness Test, Mask Fit Test, provided by C.P. Services.
Applicantsmust already holdthe following certifications to be eligible for this position. If the successful candidate does not already possess these certifications, they will be required to obtain themat their own expenseprior to commencing work.
