Essential Functions and Purpose:
Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of truck and trailer systems including brakes, suspension, electrical, engines, and HVAC
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, tire repairs, brake adjustments, and basic electrical work
  • Support senior technicians with more complex repairs and diagnostics
  • Document work completed and assist with repair order accuracy
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; assist with shop upkeep as required
  • Follow safe work practices and comply with shop safety policies and procedures
  • Attend and complete required in-school apprenticeship technical training
  • Use appropriate tools, software, and diagnostic equipment under supervision
  • Participate in OEM and internal training opportunities as available
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, foremen, and supervisors regarding job status and learning goals

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered (or eligible to register) in a Truck and Transport or Trailer Mechanic Apprenticeship Program
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in the heavy-duty industry
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take direction
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lifting, standing, working under vehicles)
  • Basic understanding of shop tools, equipment, and safety practices
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment
