About the Role
Cobalt Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on a multi-year rural road construction project supporting a new gold mine development in Yukon.
This senior leadership role is responsible for coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and project resources to ensure the project is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Depending on experience, candidates may be hired as either a Project Manager or Site Superintendent, working closely with company leadership and project teams to deliver complex heavy civil construction projects in remote northern environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day field operations on a large-scale road construction project

Supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and equipment fleets

Work closely with head office and project leadership to ensure clear communication with clients and stakeholders

Develop and maintain construction schedules and production targets
-
Manage materials, equipment logistics, and supply chains for remote operations

Coordinate site labour and workforce planning during peak construction season
-
Ensure construction activities meet engineering specifications and project design requirements

Coordinate field testing, inspections, and QA/QC documentation
-
Track project costs, budgets, and productivity metrics

Identify and manage change directives, RFIs, and scope adjustments
-
Maintain strict adherence to company safety policies and programs
-
Promote a positive safety culture and team environment on site

Mentor and support development of foremen, operators, and field staff

Maintain strong working relationships with owners’ representatives, engineers, environmental consultants, and First Nation partners

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control project costs

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of senior experience in heavy civil construction, mining, or infrastructure projects
-
Experience with road building, earthworks, and mine development projects
-
Previous Superintendent or Project Management experience on remote or northern projects preferred

Proven ability to manage multiple crews, subcontractors, and equipment resources

Strong understanding of construction scheduling and cost control

Experience coordinating with engineering consultants and environmental teams

Demonstrated leadership and team management experience

Experience working with First Nation partners and northern communities is an asset

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Must pass pre-employment medical screening
-
Ability to support and enforce drug and alcohol-free worksites

Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Legally entitled to work in Canada
